Altaisk, June 02 , SPA -- Forest fires have resumed after a short pause caused by rains in the republic of Tuva. The fires swept 60 hectares in the areas of Tuva, an official of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources told Itar-Tass. Meteorologists forecast a 35 degree Centigrade heat wave in Tuva. The previous onslaught of forest fires began in the republic because of hot and dry weather in early May. On some says, over 20 fires were registered in a 12-hectare area. About 400 people and 50 units of machinery were at work to put them out. The fires were extinguished by May 27. Russian Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu has visited the troubled region. At a conference in Kyzyl he demanded enhancing the effectiveness of the struggle against natural fires. Over 110 conflagrations have been registered in Tuva since the beginning of the spring over 28,600 hectares. Over 13.5 million roubles have been allocated from the federal budget this year for fighting the forest fires.
