The Agriculture Ministry has temporarily imposed a ban on import of cows, sheep, goats, camels and gazelles from France due to the spread of Rift Valley Fever in the country. The decision was based on the report carried by the bulletin of the World Health Organization (WHO), on May 15, 2008, which said that the Rift Valley Fever disease has been detected in 12 heads of cows in France. Meanwhile, the Ministry has imposed a temporary ban on import of sheep from Jordan after the rejection of the animal and botanic quarantine tests conducted at the entry point of Hadeetha on the samples of sheep that had been found infected by Foot-and-Mouth disease.
