German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Lebanon Sunday on the first leg of his Middle East tour, Lebanese officials said. "We are following the events in Lebanon. We express our appreciation to the efforts by the Arab League over Lebanon and the Doha Agreement is considered an important step towards a solution," the German minister said after meeting President Michel Suleiman. Steinmeier was scheduled to hold talks later with House Speaker Nabih Berri and Premier Fouad Seniora before heading on to Israel and the Palestinian territories, the German news agency "DPA" reported.
