Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, the General President of Meteorology and Environment Protection inaugurated here today the website of the First International Arab Conference for the Environmental Legislation and the exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference to be organized by the General Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Arab League and the United Nations Environment Programme from July 5-7, 2008 under the theme "Environmental Legislation, a Global Commitment to Protecting our Environment and the Future of our Generations". On this occasion, Prince Turki bin Nasser who is also President of Executive Bureau of Arab Ministers in charge of Environment said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that this important conference will give a great attention to all environmental issues and urge Arab states that have not ratified the International conventions of the environment protection and natural resources to join those conventions to fill the legal gap in this area. He also urged these states to develop environmental management laws by coordination between the relevant agencies and cooperation between the bodies and institutions concerned with Arab environment. The Prince pointed out that the Kingdom's hosting of the conference is a result from being one of the leading countries in setting environmental policies and programmes for the 80s and this event is an evidence of the Kingdom's attention to environmental work in the framework of the ongoing support provided by it to preserve the environment and to ensure sustainable development for the future generations in a clean and healthy environment.
