A large fire broke out Tuesday in Berlin's Philharmonie concert hall that houses the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra, according to dpa. The building was immediately cleared, and no injuries were reported. The Berlin fire brigade deployed 20 fire vehicles and 110 firefighters to contain the blaze. A large plume of brown smoke hung over the famous irregular golden building. Fire services spokesman Jens-Peter Wilke said the structure of the concrete building was not seriously at risk, but he also predicted that damage from the fire, the resultant smoke and the water used to douse the blaze, could be considerable.
