The Higher Education Ministry has categorically denied reports carried by local media recently which said that scholarships for pursuing academic studies in Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia have been suspended. Dr Abdullah Al-Mousa, the Supervisor General of the Scholarships Administration at the Ministry, said the Administration has noticed that some of the applications for the scholarships come from the offices of the cultural attaché without meeting the required conditions of the scholarships in line with the Royal order which stipulates that the student should complete 30 hours, and should have an aggregate of 3.5 out of 5 at the bachelor stage, or 2.5 out of 4 as well as completion of 9 hours for the master stage with the average of 'very good'. Al-Mousa added that the Scholarships Administration has drawn attention of the offices of the cultural attaché on many times to avoid submission of requests for scholarships which do not meet the required conditions. --SPA ld like to make it clear that scholarships for the aforesaid countries are still open for all students within the framework of the program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques or for the students, who are planning to study at their own expense, " said al-Mousa.
