A number of Saudi businessmen hailed the long-and short-range arrangements approved by the Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz last Monday, to achieve food security in the Kingdom, provide basic and essential food commodities for citizens and expatriates, alleviate the burden borne by citizens due to drastic rise in the prices of supplies, and agricultural and livestock products, and to insure the needs of the country's goods without fluctuation or disappearance of some of them. They emphasized that such plans are in the interest of citizens and ensuring the preservation of the high and honorable level of living, although the causes that led to the crisis of rising prices of food commodities is essentially external incurred by various nations of the world, throwing its shadows over the local markets and mounting pressure on citizens inside. In interviews on those plans, the prominent businessmen described the decisions as a genuine exercise of responsibility of the nation's leader towards his people and said the decisions represent a wise response of the leadership of the Kingdom to face difficult circumstances and changes that inflict a great burden on the citizen, and also embody the high sense of leadership and its permanent care of its people concerns. They expressed their appreciation for the scientific and thoughtful way to face this crisis, seeking long-term remedy for the problem. --More
