All flood evacuees in West Aceh district have returned home after two days of staying at temporary shelters, ANTARA quoted a spokesman as saying. They began to leave the shelters on Saturday afternoon after flood waters inundating their homes have receded, the spokesman for the West Aceh district administration, Mursalin, said on Sunday. Flash floods triggered by days of heavy rains swept through ten sub districts in West Aceh, killing thousands of fowls and destroying hectares of paddy fields at a total loss of hundreds of millions of rupiahs. More than 34,510 people evacuated to safer areas after the floods inundated their houses at a height of 50 to 100 cm. But there was no immediate report of casualties. West Aceh is one of the flood-prone districts on the western tip of Sumatra island.
