Eleven soldiers died Friday and one more was injured as an Army helicopter crashed in the west Mexican state of Michoacan, the authorities said. Sources at the public prosecutor's office told Deutsche Presse- Agentur (DPA) that one colonel, two lieutenants and eight rank-and-file soldiers were killed. Other sources, however, mentioned nine or ten dead. The helicopter crashed for unknown reasons in the town of Uruapan, one of the areas of Michoacan where the Army has been involved out an anti-drug operation for over a year.
