Officials say a Turkish soldier was killed in a clash between troops and Kurdish rebels near Turkey's southeastern border with Iraq, according to AP. The local governor's office says the clash took place late Wednesday on Mount Kupeli in Sirnak province. On the same day Turkish warplanes hit a group of Kurdish rebels reportedly trying to infiltrate Turkey from the Avasin-Basyan region of northern Iraq. Turkey is fighting the Kurdistan Workers' Party. The rebel group launches attacks against targets in Turkey from its bases in northern Iraq. The Sirnak governor's office reported the clash in the province on Thursday.
