A Palestinian negotiator says the Israeli and Palestinian leaders are meeting later Sunday in Jerusalem, the Associated Press reported. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met just a week ago, and there was no official word on why they would meet again so soon. U.S. mediators have urged them to meet about twice a month, as part of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said Abbas and Olmert would meet Sunday evening in Jerusalem. Olmert spokesman Mark Regev said he would look into the report. Officials close to the talks say the unexpected meeting is a result of scheduling problems and not a sign of crisis. Abbas is traveling to the U.S. next week.
