The visit of King Saud University delegation led by the KSU rector Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman to France resulted in implementing the National Program for Genetic Discovery and its vital and essential application for genetic diseases causing immuno-deficiency and infectious diseases. The establishment of the this National program comes after the KSU rector signed an agreement with French Scientist Jean-Laurent Casanova, Director of the Laboratory of Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases at the Necker Medical School, Hospital for Sick Children, University of Paris Rene Descartes, who had agreed to join KSU staff as a visiting professor. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Salih Zaid Al-Mohsin, The Supervisor of the Program pointed out that the significance of the project lie in the national result, which will be accomplished in collaboration with several bodies within the university and outside. The people in charge for this program, which is the first of its kind at the Arab level, to be a pioneer program not only at the local level but also at the global level too. This program will contribute in the training and preparation of national cadres to become leading specialized researchers, he added.
