A Brazilian Air Force plane carrying two ministers from President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's cabinet made an emergency landing Wednesday in the north-eastern Brazilian city of Recife, the news agency Estado reported according to DPA. Citing National Integration Ministry sources, Estado said the minister with that portfolio, Geddel Vieira Lima, and Communications Minister Helio Costa were aboard the plane. The Lear jet reportedly suffered technical problems immediately after takeoff from Recife airport, bound for Brasilia. The plane was forced to return to Recife. The pilot was unable to deploy the landing gear but kept the plane under control as it slid 30 metres on a runway at Guararapes airport. No one was injured, and passengers left the plane before the fire department arrived, the report said.
