Police in the Moscow region have seized more than 3.5 million pirated CDs, the press service of the Interior Ministry's Economic Security Department told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. During operation and search events, law-enforcement bodies have routed an underground network which engaged in the production and sales of pirated CDs in Moscow and the Moscow and Yaroslavl regions. Police received a tip that a large batch of audio CDs was on sale. Detectives found two large storage facilities located in the Mytishchi and Pushkino districts. A criminal case was opened over the violation of copyright law. According to the Interior Ministry, economic crime police exposed more than 1,300 crimes in the field of copyright law in January-February 2008. More than 500 criminal cases have already been referred to courts.
