Under the patronage of Prince Metib bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Prince Mansour bin Metib, the Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, opened here today a workshop on the role of the private sector in the activation of the municipal work. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Assim bin Tahir, the advisor of privatization, said the developed and underdeveloped countries in the world witnessed in the last years the process of privatization of some of their governmental activities in line with the policies of globalization and the market economy. He noted that the privatization of the governmental activities including the sector of the municipal services has become an essential matter. Dr bin Tahir pointed out that the project of developing the region located between al-Hada and al-Shifa will be implemented by the private sector at a total cost of about $20 billion. --more
