Floods inundated a number of villages in Lamongan district, East Java, in the past two days after a 150-meter long dike built to withstand flood water from Bengawan Solo River, collapsed, according to ANTARA. No villagers had been evacuated although the flood waters inundated about one thousand houses and school buildings to a height of 10-50 cm, Laren subdistrict head Rusgiyanto said on Sunday. "Flood water from Bengawan Solo River has four times inundated our subdistrict since the large flood hit the area some time ago. The flood water entered the area through the dike at Tegalrejo village, Widang subdistrict," he said. In Tuban subdistrict, 40-cm high flood water inundated a number of villages.
