Kamchatsky, Russia, February 26, SPA -- There has been a severe storm in the Pacific Ocean and in the Bering Sea near the eastern coast of Kamchatka. A storm warning has been issued to the fleet, leadership of shipping companies, ports and rescue services, the Kamchatka hydrometeorology centre told Itar-Tass. The waves are currently seven-eight meters high in the Pacific. The weather conditions are event worse in the north-western part of the Bering Sea where 11-metre-high waves have been registered. The storm is accompanied by strong winds with gusts of up to 35 meters per second. The stormy weather has been caused by the influence of a cyclone that came from the Pacific. The unfavorable weather conditions at se will persist until February 27, specialists say. The atmospheric whirlwind poses no danger for populated localities, however, the wind is expected to strengthen all along the eastern coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Its speed in the north of the peninsula is reaching 20 meters per second and in the south – 18 meters per second.
