Law enforcement agencies have arrested some 122 potential suicide bombers over the past some time, Caretaker Minister for Interior Lt. Gen. (retd) Hamid Nawaz says. The menace of terrorism and extremism is on the verge of elimination because of these arrests, he told the reporters. At this time we have over sixty bombers, and if banned Balochistan Liberation Army elements are included, the figure goes to 122. Nawaz said a large number of such people have been apprehended and they are under investigation, hoping that this number would further increase. The minister said with these arrests, law enforcement agencies have been able to get hold of a big quantity of explosives and such equipment, which these people were using. So, there remained minimum chance for the occurrence of suicide bombings in future, he added. About involvement of foreign elements in the incidents of terrorism in Pakistan, Nawaz there can be a foreign hand in it as without involvement of these elements this type of activity cannot be sustained.
