The European Union plans to set up a military mission to the Central African country of Chad by the end of March, EU foreign policy head Javier Solana said Thursday according to DPA. Solana made the statement in a meeting with EU defence ministers in the Slovenian city of Brdo, not far from the capital Ljubljana. Slovenian Defence Minister Karl Erjavec, who chaired the meeting, said "the operation is very important for the credibility of the European Union." The EU troops are to protect refugees in Chad that fled neighbouring Sudan.
