A European unit of Indian wind-energy company Suzlon said Thursday it had won a key German order, estimated by industry observers to be worth 2 billion euros (3 billion dollars), according to dpa. The Hamburg-based subsidiary, Repower Systems, is to build about 450 wind turbines by 2010 for RWE Innogy, part of Germany's second-biggest electricity group. Innogy aims to site about 250 in offshore waters and the other 200 on land. RWE spun off Innogy as a separate unit owning all the group's renewable-energy generating capacity at the start of this month. The rest of RWE's power stations are nuclear, gas and coal fired. Detailed terms of the contract have yet to be negotiated, Repower said.
