At least 16 people were killed when a bus hit a roadside pole carrying electric power lines and caught fire near the Bangladeshi resort town of Cox's Bazar on Thursday, police said. More than 20 other people injured in the accident, which happened about 375 km (234 miles) southeast of the capital Dhaka, have been taken to hospital. The victims, mostly factory workers, were travelling to Cox's Bazar from the port city of Chittagong for a picnic, police said. Thursday is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
