Bangladeshi police say a vehicle packed with schoolchildren has crashed into a roadside canal in the country's south, killing at least 40 students, according to AP. Police official Iftekhar Hasan says 40 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage of Monday's accident in Chittagong district. He says the death toll may rise as more bodies are feared trapped inside the sunken vehicle. He says the students aged between 8 and 12 were returning home from a local school soccer tournament. Chittagong is 216 kilometers (136 miles) southeast of the capital Dhaka.
