The South African government has not yet decided whether to recognise Kosovo as an independent country, DPA quoted Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as saying Monday. "Our government has to discuss it and see what the implications of all this (are)," the minister told a briefing in Pretoria, referring to Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia which was passed by the Kosovo assembly on Sunday with the blessing of major Western powers. South Africa is a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, which is to convene Tuesday to debate Kosovo, at Serbia's request. Dlamini-Zuma was addressing a joint press conference with visiting New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters, who said New Zealand never officially gave a country recognition from "day one." "We do not jump in on day one and make that decision on day one even though this was perhaps a likely probability given the trend of developments over the last few years," he said.
