US President George W. Bush met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at the White House last night. According to White House press secretary Scott Stanzel, Bush was set to discuss with Minister Al-Faisal “a wide range of regional issues including the president's recent trip to the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the situation in Lebanon.” The meeting between the two leaders came one month after Bush's trip to the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, which centered on advancing peace in the region. Present at the meeting from the American side were Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Stephen Hadley, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Global Democracy Strategy Elliot Abrams. From the Saudi side Saudi Ambassador Adel Al-Jubeir, and Director of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Dr. Khalid Al-Jindan, attended the meeting.
