The Spanish government Friday authorized the extradition to Argentina of Rodolfo Eduardo Almiron, former operative leader of the Argentine Anti-Communist Alliance or Triple A death squads, the Justice Ministry said in Madrid, according to dpa. The far-right Triple A is held responsible for hundreds of deaths in the early 1970s. Almiron was arrested in Spain in 2006 on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity. The government confirmed the authorization for his extradition given by the National Court in January. The Triple A operated during the presidency of Maria Estela "Isabelita" Martinez de Peron, who is under investigation and house arrest in Spain.
