Two unknown armed men attacked a district governor in Afghanistan's western province of Herat, wounding the official and killing his son, while two other assailants were killed after they attacked a jail in the same province, DPA quoted police sources as saying on Sunday. "The district governor of Guzara was on his way to the office when two men from a car opened fire on his vehicle, wounding him and killing his son," provincial police chief Mohammad Juma Adeel told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. Another passer-by, a civilian, was also wounded in the attack, Adeel said, adding that both wounded men were in stable condition at a provincial hospital.
