A U.S. soldier was killed two were wounded Saturday when their vehicle hit a home-made mine in Afghanistan's southern province of Zabul, U.S. military said. Cindy Moore, a spokeswoman for the U.S-led coalition forces told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that the incident occurred in the Shin- Kai district of Zabul. Two injured soldiers had been taken to the neighbouring province of Kandahar for medical treatment. Rebel spokesman Abdul Latif Hakimi claimed responsibility saying rebels had used a remote-controlled mine. Hakimi also said insurgents had killed two Russian nationals in the same province Saturday.
