Egyptian-born Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri, who is serving a seven-year prison sentence in Britain for incitement to murder and racial hatred, is to be extradited to the United States to face terrorism charges, the London Home Office said Thursday according to DPA. The 49-year-old Islamic caller is wanted by US authorities on 11 charges alleging organisation of a terrorist training camp in Oregon state between 1998 and 2000, and planning a hostage-taking in Yemen. British magistrates already approved the extradition in November, and it has now been ratified by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith. Abu Hamza has 14 days to appeal against the extradition order. If there is no successful appeal, he will be handed over to the US within 28 days.
