The Ministry of Agriculture today issued a statement announcing the detection of a new Bird Flu (H5N1) case at a farm in Kharj province, Riyadh region. The farm consists of 3 bird aviaries and 158,000 birds. The statement noted that the ministry, in coordination with the other concerned authorities, has immediately taken the required and precautionary measures in line with the emergency plan in this respect. "All birds at the farm were culled and the site was cleaned and closed," the statement said. The statement urged the breeders and producers of poultry to intensify the preventive and precautionary measures. The statement also urged the owners of poultry farms as well as citizens and residents to immediately report through contacting telephone number 014030911 or the toll free number 8002470000 or the nearest branch of the agriculture ministry if suspicious cases appear.
