Kamchatsky, Russia, January 29, SPA -- Two earthquakes with magnitudes 4.9 and five points on the Richter scale have occurred at sea near the Kamchatka Peninsula coast. No casualties or destruction have been reported, according to Itar-Tass. The first earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 points was registered at 17:05, local time (08:05, Moscow time) on Monday. Its epicentre was located in the Pacific Ocean 376 kilometres south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The quake epicentre was located at a depth of five kilometres under the seabed. Seven hours later – at 00:50, Kamchatka time (15:50, Moscow time on January 28) a five-point earthquake was registered in the Kamchatka Strait. The epicentre was located 497 kilometres northeast of the Kamchatka regional centre at a depth of 15 kilometres under the seabed, the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
