GCC Assistant Secretary General for human and environmental affairs Dr. Abdullah bin Aqla Al-Hashim said that the GCC is planning to prepare studies on the implementation of nuclear program for peaceful purposes. These studies will cover all related sides and dimensions to the nuclear programs or projects that will be agreed on by the GCC states in the future such as the legal, legislative, economic, technical and environmental sides as well as issues pertaining to the nuclear security, radiation, human cadres, scientific research and other related matters, Dr Al-Hashim disclosed in a statement published today in two Jordanian newspapers :'Al-Dastour' and 'Al-Ghad'. He noted that the project of the nuclear energy is very important and strategic for the GCC member states. Dr al-Hashim said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has presented a feasibility study on the nuclear program for peaceful purposes like generation of power and water desalination.
