Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend a joint meeting of foreign ministers of Russia and Belarus on January 29-30, Itar-Tass reported. “The joint college meetings are regular since 1999, and this testifies to a high level of foreign policy cooperation of our countries, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said. “Russian–Belarussian interaction at the international arena is oriented towards solving two strategic tasks defense and promotion of the interests of Russia and Belarus, securing favourable external conditions for sustainable socio-economic development,” Lavrov said. It is planned that the sides will adopts at the joint meeting of the colleges a plan of action in the field of foreign policy of the union state for 2008-09, Kamynin said.
