A 30-year-old resident of Tangerang, a suburb west of Jakarta, has been positively infected with the bird flu virus and is currently being treated in a hospital in east Jakarta, ANTARA quoted the Health Ministry as reporting. Examinations conducted by the ministry's Health Research and Development Agency's Laboratory and the Eijkman Molecular Biology Institute's Laboratory had shown that the man was carrying the H5N1 Avian Influenza virus, the ministry's Bird Flu Command Post said in a statement. Previously, on January 18, another Tangerang resident, an 8-year-old boy, had also tested positive for bird flu and eventually died. So far, the cumulative number of bird flu cases in Indonesia has been recorded at 120 of which 97 had ended in the patients` deaths. The country's bird flu Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is now 80.8 percent, according to the health ministry's Bird Flu Command Post.
