The 22nd meeting of the Environmental Coordination Committee of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council started in the Omani capital of Muscat today. In a key address, Mohammed bin Khamees Al-Oraimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climatic Affairs of Oman, said the environmental problems and changes in the recent years were a great challenge facing our planet as pollution and depletion of natural resources have turned to be among the most important environmental issues in our contemporary world, noting that the GCC countries are among the countries of the world who participate in facing those dangers. He cited the GCC resolutions issued at Muscat summit in 1985 as the platform of the GCC countries fight against pollution and protection of environment and natural resources.
