Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Amman Tuesday en route to Cairo for talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa on the aftermath of the November 27 Annapolis conference, Palestinian sources said, according to DPA. Abbas is due to brief Mubarak on the outcome of his talks earlier this week with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Mubarak will in turn brief him on his latest meeting with Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak, sources added. Palestinian sources expected Ababs' talks with the Egyptian head of state to focus on the plight of 2,200 Palestinian pilgrims currently stranded near the border with the Gaza Strip after Egyptian authorities rejected their request to return home through the Rafah crossing point.
