The first International Conference of Mines and Quarries Economies in the Arab World started here today. The conference was organized by Egyptian Scientists Association in cooperation with Saudi-Egyptian Mining Services Establishment . The Saudi delegation to the conference was headed by Undersecretary of Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dr. Sultan Jamal Shaoli. Addressing the conference, Dr. Sultan said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has various mining resources including among others gold, silver and building materials. He pointed out that up to 3 million tons of mining resources, worth $ 4 billion, were extracted from the Kingdom's land last year, noting that the producing companies had gained profits amounting to $ 1.2 billion.
