French President Nicolas Sarkozy met Sunday with Egyptian Hosni Mubarak for diplomatic talks on the countries' bilateral relations and latest developments in the region. Presidential spokesman Suleiman Awwad told the press earlier that the talks would cover the political situation in Lebanon, the election of a Lebanese president as well as the situation in Iraq, the Palestinian territories, the Gulf, Somalia and Sudan. During a press conference following the high-profile meeting, Mubarak said that the Middle East Paris donors' conference was also discussed. The Two presidents also discussed the results of the US-backed Annapolis peace conference, according to a report of the German news agency "DPA."
