President Pervez Musharraf says that Pakistan and Afghanistan need to stand together to combat extremism and terrorism. Addressing a State banquet in honor of the visiting Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and members of his delegation at the presidential palace Wednesday night, Musharraf said the destinies of the two countries are inter-twined. "Militancy and Talibanisation are neither the future of Pakistan nor of Afghanistan. We must defeat these regressive forces that have disrupted the peace and harmony of our societies and have maligned our noble faith, Islam. In this struggle, we stand together with you." The President said no other country has greater stake in Afghanistan s security and stability than Pakistan. In his address, President Karzai said both the countries were suffering due to extremism and terrorism and pointed that it was casting a shadow of doubt on relations between us. He said it was vital that both the countries join hands to liberate their people from their common enemy of terrorism and extremism, for a better future of their youth and future generations. He thanked the people and the government of Pakistan for hosting millions of Afghans for years.
