President General Pervez Musharraf has expressed satisfaction that Pakistan-US relations have acquired a mutually beneficial strategic dimension. Talking to US Senator Tom Harkin, who met him, Musharraf said multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries has expanded and appreciated the US support to Pakistan's socio-economic development, according to an official statement. The president underlined the importance of enhancing the scope of bilateral economic relationship. Musharraf underscored the importance for the US to promote greater market access for Pakistani products and for higher investments from the United States. The president highlighted the measures being undertaken to address the problems of terrorism and extremism. On his part, Senator Harkin lauded the support Pakistan is extending to the international community in the fight against terrorism. He praised Musharraf for the progress made by Pakistan in the economic and social fields. He noted the important role of Pakistan in the region and supported Pakistan's efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
