Chinese and Indian troops ended Tuesday their first joint military exercise with a three-hour anti-terrorism drill in south-west China, local media reported, according to DPA. The five-day long "Hand in Hand 2007" drill was considered a success and was important for building mutual trust, according to military officials cited by Xinhua news agency. Tuesday's drill involved 200 ground troops from the two armies subduing 50 ""terrorists, separatists and religious extremists" who had entered the border area of China and India. The drill took place in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province. China and India signed an agreement last year to regularize military training and personnel exchanges, and since then they have held a series of visits and other events. Chinese and Indian naval forces also held a first joint search and rescue exercise in the East China Sea in 2003.
