The Spanish government said Friday it had lowered the gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for 2008 from 3.3 to 3.1 per cent, DPA reported. The government attributed the weakening growth to volatile international financial markets, but said that the Spanish economy was solid enough to withstand such turbulence. In 2009, the economy is expected to grow 3 per cent and in 2010, by 3.2 per cent. For this year, the government maintained a growth forecast of 3.8 per cent.
