At least 50 Eidul Adha holiday travelers were killed and over 100 others wounded when an overnight express train derailed in Pakistan's Sindh province in the wee hours of Wednesday, officials said. They feared the death toll to significantly rise as many injured persons were in a critical condition. The train, going to Lahore from Karachi, was taking the Eid passengers to their home towns in the Punjab province when more than a dozen of its 16 carriages derailed near Mehrabpur and ploughed into the ground. Rescue teams of Pakistan Railways, police and paramilitary Rangers rushed to the site. The injured persons were shifted to the hospitals of districts Nowsherferoz, Sakhar, Khairpur and Nawabshah where emergency was declared. Workers used cutters to slash the wreckage of bogeys to take out bodies of the passengers.
