Major general Mansour al-Turki, the spokesman for the interior ministry, has reiterated the safety of the pilgrims and said no abnormal cases were reported. In his daily press briefing, al-Turki said the security men and the other authorities concerned with Hajj affairs have performed their duty in a satisfactory manner. He noted that the pilgrims began since last night to proceed to Mina in preparation for ascendance to Arafat on Tuesday. Al-Turki noted that about 80 percent of the pilgrims have already left Makkah for Mina. Al-turki said the land pilgrims started this morning to proceed to Arafat under the supervision of a special traffic command. --more
