The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged pilgrims not to use gas pipes for cooking at the holy sites because it threatens the safety of pilgrims. The Commander of Civil Defense at Hajj Major General Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Amr said that preventing the use of gas is an extension of previous orders and instructions barring the use of liquefied petroleum gas for cooking at the holy sites, an order also applied to the headquarters of government bodies at the holy sites. In statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Amr said that there is coordination with security authorities to prevent the entry of gas pipes to the holy sites.
