Pakistan Tuesday successfully test-fired a surface-to-surface nuclear capable cruise missile, Pakistan Army said in a statement. The launch of the Hatf-VII or Babur missile, which has a range of 700 kilometers, was part of a continuous process of validating the design parameters set for this weapon system, the statement said. The test was witnessed by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid, senior military officers, scientists and engineers of strategic organisations. The statement said that the test would consolidate Pakistan s strategic capability and strengthen national security. The statement said that the missile, which has near stealth capabilities, is a low-flying, terrain-hugging missile with high maneuverability, pinpoint accuracy and radar-avoidance features.
