Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Military Affairs, launched here yesterday the program of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz for supporting Arabic language at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The program was established by Riyadh-based Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Charitable Foundation in cooperation with UNESCO. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Khalid, who is the Deputy Chairman of the board of trustees of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Charitable Foundation, expressed appreciation for the efforts of UNESCO in the service of the Arabic language. Prince Khalid announced the donation of Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General, and who is also the Supreme President of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Charitable Foundation, $2 million for the service of the Arabic language at UNESCO. He lauded the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the service of education and knowledge. Later he inaugurated the website of 'the Arabic Language at UNESCO' and opened a show of Arab drawings. On his part, the director general of UNESCO Koichiro Matsora expressed appreciation for the generous support extended by Saudi Arabia for the service of knowledge. He appraised the contributions of the Crown Prince to supporting the Arabic language at the various activities of UNESCO. The function was attended by Dr Khalid bin Abdullah al-Mashari al-Saud, the Deputy Minister of education for girls education, Dr Mohammed bin Isma'il al-Sheikh, the Saudi ambassador to France, and a number of officials, intellectuals and media men.
