A passenger train derailed in eastern India, killing one person and injuring dozens more, a railway official said Monday. The Brahmputra Mail was traveling from Gauhati, the capital of the northeastern state of Assam, to New Delhi when the accident took place in West Bengal state late Sunday night, railway spokesman T.K. Rabha said. One passenger was killed and 49 others injured, 37 of them seriously, he was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
