The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia knew the process of water desalination since 1928. In 1394 a Royal decree was issued for the establishment of the saline water conversion corporation (swcc) as an independent organization. The Saudi Government has spent billions of riyals for implementing projects of water desalination at the coasts of the Red sea and the Arab Gulf. In 2006, the Kingdom produced more than 1070 million cubic meter of desalinated water. --more
