Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Madani opened here today a seminar on dialogue between the Arab and Chinese civilizations. The seminar is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information on December 1-4, 2007. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Abdulaziz bin Salama, the Assistant Under Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information for foreign information and head of the seminar's organizing committee, said the organization of the seminar embodies the great attention given by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries to the Arab-Chinese relations. He noted that the 19th Arab summit, held in Riyadh last March, welcomed the idea of the seminar. He noted that the ministry of culture and information in coordination with the foreign ministry had made the required arrangements for convening the seminar, and to work with the Arab League's General Secretariat, the Chinese foreign ministry and the council of the Arab ambassadors in Beijing to guarantee effective participation from the Arab and Chinese sides in the seminar. He noted that Beijing seminar had focused on the cultural relations between the Arab and Muslim world and China, and the values that link the Arab and Chinese civilizations. He pointed out that about 80 officials and researchers from the Arab countries and china will participate in the seminar.
