Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Bin Ameen Madani opened here last night a seminar on "Germany and Arab Culture" which is organized by King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) in cooperation with the German Embassy in the center. Madani delivered a speech in which he thanked Prince Turki Al-Faisal, the Chairman of (KFCRIS), for giving him a chance to participate in the opening of this seminar. He added that this seminar will consider the development of German knowledge of Arab culture and their efforts to study it. Madani pointed out that this seminar coincides with the visit of German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which attracted a lot of attention among officials of both countries expressing the deep-rooted bilateral ties. "The Cultural orientation of Arab and Saudi inner-feelings were attracted towards the German culture and that the German history during the 20th century is still a topic of interest for Arab researchers in spheres of ideology and political developments," Madani said. A number of speakers also spoke on this occasion, highlighting the importance of this seminar and the continuation of Arab and German studies of their culture. The speakers included the Secretary General of KFCRIS, Dr. Yahya Mahmoud Bin Junaid; the German Embassy's Charge de Affairs and the Cultural Counselor in the embassy. Madani also opened an exhibition on the fringes of the seminar which includes some publications, manuscripts and books.
